Fasting is the cheapest detox therapy

Fasting is voluntary abstention from food and drink for several hours to day. When fasting, the body temporarily stops food intake, giving the digestive organs a chance to rest and switch focus to cell repair. When fasting, your body switches from burning glucose to burning stored fat for energy after several hours. To stay fit and healthy, maintain high hydration with water, tea, or coffee, consume nutrient-dense foods during eating windows, and engage in light.

Fasting detox aim to remove accumulated metabolic waste, enviromental toxins and pollutants stored in body fat. Proponents believe this process booths physical and mental welness, aids im weight loss, and improve overall metabolism.

This process is largely driven by a mechanism called autophagy (cellular "self-eating"), which ramps up when nutrient availability is low, typically around 14-16 hours, to recycle old, damaged, or dysfunctional cellular components. This detox occurs naturally in organs such as the liver, kidneys, skin and lungs if a healthy lifestyle is implemented during fasting. A healthy lifestyle during fasting can be achieved by maintaining a balanced, nutritious diet during suhoor and iftar, staying hydrated (eight glasses of water per day), getting enough sleep (7-8 hours), and doing light exercise. Avoid oily and excessive foods during iftar, and consume complex carbohydrates to ensure sustained energy.

Fasting also acts as a skin detox, combining Ramadan fasting (intermittent fasting) to eliminate toxins (autophagy) and skin fasting (giving the skin a break from excessive skincare products). This effectively reduces acne, repairs the skin barrier, and brightens the skin by maintaining hydration and avoiding oily foods when breaking the fast. So it's not surprising that people who fast diligently will stay young and glowing.

There are many types of body detox and they also require different costs. Body detox costs vary significantly based on the method, ranging from under $50 for over-the-counter kits to $250–$800+ per day for supervised medical detox. Whereas fasting only requires a little money to eat normally twice and drink water. It only costs about $5 for one healthy meal and drink. With 2 healthy meals and drinks it costs $10. Fasting is considered a cheap detox because of body's natural mechanism without supplement or advanced equipment.

Even though fasting is good for your health, you should still consult a doctor before starting a long-term fast, especially if you have certain health conditions.

  1. Agreed. Fasting should be a human necessity. If everyone did it, hospitals would be empty because there would be fewer sick people.

  2. Não gosto de ficar em jejum, mas as vezes é bom, quando estamos com problemas intestinais, por exemplo. Texto muito interessante.

    1. No início, o jejum parecia forçado. Mas quando outras terapias se mostraram caras e potencialmente desconfortáveis, o jejum tornou-se uma necessidade.
