Rabbit or Hare Disease Which Could Infect to Humans

      Both of rabbit or hare were born from the same family, Leporidae. But, they have a little different. Rabbit is shorter and more fat than hare. Rabbit is easier to be trained and cared (for a pets). Rabbit meat is more delicious than hare meat. While hare is wilder but stronger than rabbit. Hare can run faster than rabbit. But, hare will not suitable to be cared by human, and should left free in wild nature.

   Both of rabbit or hare are sensitive animals/pets, more sensitive than cat. Both of them can transmit disease seeds to humans more other than cat.

What are the types of disease seeds from rabbit/hare?

1. Cold
     Not only humans, but also animals gets cold easily. Based on wikipedia, Cold is a viral infectious disease of the upper respiratory track that primarily affects the nose. The causes is virus. Virus will spread faster in bad weather, through the air, than carried away the food. You should use a mask to treat cold sick rabbit/hare to prevent direct infection.

Before rabbit/hare gets cold more severe, do this instructions:
- You have to separate sick rabbit/hare with healthy rabbit/hare/other pets. Than, sick rabbit/hare have to kept away from humans, especially children, because it contagious fastly

- You have to clean sick rabbit/hare cage every day. Because sick rabbit/hare's feces potentially to spread other disease

- Drying in the sun your sick rabbit/hare (until 9 AM), to drive away germs
- Drying in the sun your sick rabbit/hare cage
- Spray the antiseptic solvent to sick rabbit/hare nasal passage and clean it's nose from dirt
- Give your sick rabbit/hare good nutrition

2. Eczema

     Eczema or skin inflammation is skin problem, be marked by boils. If boils was destroyed, can effect wider inflammation and contagious easily to humans. Beside that, eczeme can effect rabbit/hare fur become fall out. For the treatment, use gloves to prevent direct contact with skin. Before rabbit/hare gets eczema more severe, do this instructions:
 - You have to clean sick rabbit/hare cage every day. Because sick rabbit/hare's feces potentially to spread other disease
- Drying in the sun your sick rabbit/hare (until 9 AM), to drive away germs
- Drying in the sun your sick rabbit/hare cage
- Clean the eczema in rabbit/hare with liquid soap
- Cut rabbit/hare fur which overgrown with eczema
- If rabbit/hare have wet wound, drying it with zinc oxide
- Give ointment (for eczema) to all boils
- Give your sick rabiit/hare good nutrition

3. Scabies

     Scabies is a skin disease, be marked with red sphere which very itchy and effect loss of rabbit/hare fur. This disease is caused by lice and mite. It can contagious to humans through lice and mite. The dirty environment make it easier. Scabies have a similirity with smallpox. If the wound was carded continously

     For the treatment, use gloves to prevent direct contact with skin. Before rabbit/hare gets eczema more severe, do this instructions:

- You have to clean sick rabbit/hare cage every day. Because sick rabbit/hare's feces potentially to spread other disease

- Drying in the sun your sick rabbit/hare cage. Prevent the cage moist and wet

- Treatment for light scabies was solved by skin oinment for humans or skin oinment for pets.

- Bathe sick rabbit/hare with water which mix with sligthly sulfur for a moment

- If skin disease more severe, you have to give antibiotic for pets, both oral antibiotic or injection antibiotic

- Give your sick rabiit/hare good nutrition

4. Conjunctivitis (Eyes Inflammation)
     Conjunctivitis or Eyes Inflammation is irritation which caused by bacteria which carried away through with the dust. This disease will get worse if rabbit/hare have allergic to the dust initially. The characteristic of this disease are red eyes, watery, eyes slightly closed, and dirt around the eyes. Beside that, it can cause decrease appetited and enduranced decreased. Finally, it can cause dead. This disease can contagious to humans through the air.

     Before rabbit/hare gets conjunctivitis more severe, you must:
- Clean around your sick pets who striken conjunctivitis with clean water, cotton, and cotton bud
- You could give eye drops for human such as Insto, Visine, etc, for your sick pets who striken eyes inflammation
- If not effective, give eye drops for rabbit or hare, such as Cendo. Give it to your sick pets who striken eyes inflammation for three days. If your pets didn't cure, stop used Cendo, because if it be continued, could cause blindness. So, you have bring your sick pets to veterinarian

     I have two pets, Angora rabbits, Bubu (brown, female) and Caca (grey, male). Now, both of them have long died because of different uncontagious disease. Bubu was bigger than Caca. Caca, died first because of malocclusion, dental disease where tooth could elongated abnormal. It was hereditary disease. Although caca's teeth had tome cut out by veterinarian and got some medicine, Caca's teeth re-elongated abnormal. So, it cause decreased appetite, low body endurance, and finally dead.

     While Bubu died because of paralysis disease. It happened suddenly. Afternoon looks healthy, but tomorrow was stricken paralysis. I get the info that paralysis was effected by bad nutrition, low calcium, and low vitamin D. So, calcium needs will be taken from blood and bone. I should sunning my pets to keep vitamin D needs. The paralysis disease cause decrease appetite, low body endurance, and finally dead.

Bubu was Died at 3 Years Old because of Paralysis. The age of Rabbit Normally 3 Years Old, So Bubu Indeed Really Old

     Although my pets were died by non-contagious disease, but both of them first got contagious disease, such as conjunctivitis. So, I think contagious disease on a one case could effect multiply disease, such as malocclusion and paralysis. All of it begins with bad nutrition, dirty environment, and less sunshine.. Rabbit/hare was really more sensitive than cat. The care and treatment for rabbit/hare was more complex than cat.
